I contributed an unreleased track from a series of free solo piano improvisations to this diverse collection of music from the Melbourne Conservatorium. Digital Yearbook 24/25 celebrates Jazz & Improvisation graduating student compositions and performances, recorded on our campus in the Brian Brown Studio, Prudence Myer Studio, and Federation Hall in late 2024/early 2025. The thirteen featured student compositions and two curriculum ensembles led by staff, celebrate students graduating across 3rd year, Honours, Masters, and PhD.

My honours research looked at extracting and reshaping existing musical material, followed by distilling it into a collection of pitch sets to inform my improvisatory practice. This recording is an excerpt from a free improvisation informed by these pitch sets. I feel this excerpt captures a very expressive, flowing moment where the steady chords create space for colourful, chromatic melodies.

Released 22nd November. Listen and download the entire collection for free at Bandcamp.
